This Friday 17, from 11:00 am, there will be a special day in the Plenary Hall of the Consistorial Palace.
About one hundred pupils, approximately, of sixth grade of the CEIP San Isidoro and Santa Florentina will take part in the Children's Plenary that has been organized by the educational center in which they study for the celebration of the International Day for the Rights of the Child. Childhood, which is next Monday, November 20.
The event will be attended by the Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the Delegate Councilor for Education, David Martínez.
The teachers and the students of the school have prepared this educational activity conscientiously, since each of the students will interpret a role as those that really take place in a real plenary session.
Also, this initiative is part of a didactic unit that has been carried out in the center to teach students the functioning of public institutions and local government.
In this context, and also on the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of Children, the four sixth grade classrooms of the CEIP San Isidoro and Santa Florentina have been divided into four political parties that have received the name of some of those rights ( 'To an education that fosters friendship, equality and justice', 'Equality, religious tolerance and against abuse', 'Food, housing and health protection', and 'Attention to disability').
The student body of the center has campaigned for elections and has carried out elections that have left the 27 members of the Plenary session with their mayor, who will be Lola Carrión, and their councilors.
These representatives went to the Town Hall on Monday to learn the operation of the Plenary.
The rest of schoolchildren will interpret other roles on Friday such as the public or the Administration officials.
