ABOUT 'CARTAGENA THINKS'
"Cartagena Piensa" is a project that was born from the fruit of the work of the "Cartagena, Culture and Municipality" days, which took place on November 27 and 28, 2015 at the Auditorium and Conference Center El Batel de Cartagena.
The group promoting the project is a collective, non-profit, which collaborates voluntarily with the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.
His home is located in the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
"Cartagena Piensa" is made up of citizens who attend voluntarily, on their own behalf or on behalf of associations and public institutions.
Its purpose is to collaborate with the City Council in the preparation of a specific program of Scientific Thinking and Culture.
The idea on which it is based is to incorporate thought, philosophy and scientific culture into municipal cultural programming, as a need linked to the formation of a critical citizenship, with the capacity to intervene in the debates that make up a participatory democracy and of quality.
"It is about democratizing knowledge in society, developing and qualifying the own citizenship to intervene in the public debate about the big problems that concern us as a society, taking them out of the exclusive domain of expert and technocratic knowledge.
And all this from the democratic participation, channeling and strengthening the citizen initiatives that coincide with our aims ", explains the group.
To do this, "Cartagena Piensa" collaborates with associations and institutions, companies and the public sector to achieve the goals pursued, and seeks other synergies that multiply the effects of their initiatives, without compromising their identity and essential values.
It is not a closed program but open and evolving.
