The thirty-first edition of Poetry Antonio Oliver Belmás 2017 already has a new winner.
It is the book 'Caja Oscura', by José Luis Vidal Carreras.
The award decision was announced today, November 13, by the jury secretary, José Macián Montesinos, director of the Popular University.
The winner was informed of the ruling, by telephone, to know if it was possible to attend the event, something that has not been possible because of living in Santa Pola.
The jury was chaired by the mayor of Cartagena Ana Belén Castejón and composed of poets of great renown, such as Blanca Andreu Fernández-Albalat, poet who in 1980 obtained the Adonis Poetry Prize;
Eloy Sánchez Rosillo, who in 1977 obtained the Adonis Poetry Prize;
Luis Alberto de Cuenca y Prado, member of the Royal Academy of History and winner of the 2015 National Poetry Prize;
Manuel Ramírez Giménez, writer and editor of Pre-texts;
Vicente Gallego Barrado, winner of the 2001 Loewe Poetry Prize and the 18th International Poetry Generation Award of the 27th obtained in 2015, along with the aforementioned José Macián Montesinos.
The Councilor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera, has been the master of ceremonies of this event, presenting the members of the jury, in the reception hall of the Palace of the City Council of Cartagena, and announcing that a total of 102 works have been presented. from different parts of the country, as well as other cities in Europe and Latin America, and there is even a work coming from a country so far from our culture as Japan.
Clarifying that they can be submitted from any country provided their works are presented in Spanish.
The mayor of Culture also recalled that the winner of the Poetry prize Antonio Oliver Belmás will receive a grant of 5,000 euros and his work will be published by the Pre-Textos publishing house, which will be responsible for dissemination and publicity to it.
The book of poems 'Dark Box' is composed of three parts, as explained, Blanca Andreu, member of the jury, the poetry has has some very bright virtues because what emerges from the book is sincerity, is the most beautiful that comes in A beginning.
It is existentialist but it touches the earth.
It is a moral book but it has no moral, with fresh and innocent poems, as if written by a wise child.
The act was closed with the reading of some poems from the winning book in the mouth of the mayor of Culture, David Martinez and the rest of the members of the jury.
The ceremony was enlivened by the interpretation of the opening 'Air suite in D minor' (JS Bach), by the violinist Alejandro Nicolás and the cellist Alberto Gómez, and has been clasified with 'La cavallería rusticana' (P. Mascagni).
