On Saturday, November 11, the Municipal Corporation will comply with its secular vote to the Four Saints for the Storm of St. Catherine that in 1694 was about to devastate the city, attributing its salvation to the intercession of the saints of Cartagena, San Leandro, San Isidoro, San Fulgencio and Santa Florentina.
The offering that this year will be carried out on behalf of the council by the Councilor for Tourism and Agriculture, Obdulia Gómez, will take place during the mass that in honor of the canonical patron saint of Cartagena, the Virgen del Rosell, will offer on the occasion of her feast, the General Vicar of the Diocese of Cartagena, Juan Tudela, and which will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Church of Santa María de Gracia.
The origin of this promise comes from 1695, when the Corporation decided to make an offering to the Four Saints every year as thanksgiving.
This offering has been going on uninterruptedly since then, and since a few years ago it has been framed in the celebration of the Virgen del Rosell.
Precisely after the Eucharist there will be an act of exaltation to the primitive patron saint of the city, by the elder brother Marrajo, Francisco Pagán Martín-Portugués, who will conclude with a wreath of the entities and associations of the city.
