On Monday, November 20, the International Day for Children's Rights will be celebrated.
A celebration organized by the departments of Social Services and Social Mediation and Education, which this year have prepared events since last day 8 and until November 24.
The Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martin and the Councilor for Education, David Martinez, have explained the details of this day and some of the activities that will be developed throughout the month.
All are integrated into the 'Prevention Program' of the municipality, and they are intended to be "a day of celebration for the progress achieved, but, above all, a day to draw attention to the situation of the most disadvantaged children and make everyone aware of the importance of working every day for their well-being and development ", Martín del Amor explained.
For his part the Councilor for Education recalled that this day serves to remember, in addition to the commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959, that minors are the most vulnerable group and that it is the obligation of all that Boys and girls enjoy their childhood.
"From the councils we have to acquire the commitment to ensure through our programs and activities for the integral improvement of the situation of childhood and to collaborate with those associations that work for it," he said.
Within the programming, include workshops, talks, theater, animation or screenings.
They will involve 14 entities that are dedicated to the rights of children and 17 centers for early childhood education, primary and secondary.
In total 1382 students are scheduled to participate in the day, for which they are doing a series of previous work in the classroom that can be seen on November 20.
The objective of the activities in the classroom is for children to know what rights they have, the obligations that these rights entail, and to know that in other countries there are children who can not enjoy them.
Within the previous activities, the council wanted to highlight on Monday, November 13 at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy cultural center at 6:30 p.m., the screening of a UNICEF production: 'Walking to school'.
The day for the rights of children, will begin with the Third March Walk for your Rights, at 11:00 hours, which will be concentrated in Carmen Street and will end in the Town Hall Square, accompanied by monitors that will invigorate all the working day.
The acts in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento will begin at 11:30 am with the 'Construction of the Garden of Rights', which will follow some words of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón.
The reading of the manifesto for the rights of children will be at 12:30 and the day will end an animation prepared by the IES Mediterranean and a flashmob organized by the IES Los Molinos.
