The Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, whose patronage is integrated by the Autonomous Community, the City of Cartagena and the Cajamurcia Foundation, opens tomorrow, at 20:00, the photographic exhibition 'Landscapes with soul'.

The project, designed by the Cristóbal Gabarrón Foundation and launched in collaboration with the Roman Theater Foundation of Cartagena, was presented today by the General Director of Cultural Assets of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Environment, Juan Antonio Lorca;

the head of the Gabarrón Foundation, Cris Gabarrón, and the director of the Roman Theater, Elena Ruiz Valderas.

As Lorca explained, "'Landscapes with soul' combines the disciplines of photography and literature, fusing poetry and image and creating new works of art with different meanings."

In the Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, "the most visited of our Region and the one that receives more tourists", the work of thirty talented Murcia creators is shown, "so this project becomes a magnificent showcase; an excellent way to show and publicize the talent of our artists and to enter into a new cultural and creative narrative, "added Lorca.

In 'Paisajes con alma' the union of photographs and texts is the fundamental basis of the project, since the photographic gaze centered on the natural, urban or transformed landscape enters into connection with the written text, converting poetry or literary prose into an engine of evocation, while the image enlarges the essence of what is written, making it visible.

These are representations that inquire into the existing relationships between perception and imagination, between internal and external knowledge.

They are humid and dry landscapes, warm and cold;

from the coast, with its beaches and ports, to the interior areas of the Region of Murcia, with its rivers, fields and mountains.

Participating artists

The texts on which the photographs are based are works by the writers Antonio Aguilar, Antonio Marín Albalate, Arturo Pérez-Reverte, Cristina Morano, Dionisia García, Eloy Sanchez Rosillo, Ginés Aniorte, Jerónimo Tristante, José María Álvarez, María Dueñas, María Teresa Cervantes, Manuel Moyano, Pascual García, Pedro García Montalvo and Soren Peñalver.

Likewise, the photographers Abel F. Ros, Ana Bernal, Andrés García Mellado, Ángel Fernández Saura, Antonio Castillo Caballero, Cristina Gutiérrez Sagredo, Joaquín Clares, Joaquín Zamora, José Carlos Ñíguez, José Luis Montero, Juan de la Cruz Megías, Juan José Ballester, Juan Manuel Díaz Burgos, María Manzanera and Teresa Arnal.

'Landscapes with a soul' can be visited until January 15 at the Roman Theater Museum in Cartagena from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Sundays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
