The area of Sustainable Development and Transparency promotes the second edition of the 'Cartagena Ciudad Transparente' Awards.
A few days ago the registration period of an initiative focused on bringing the value of Transparency to the classrooms was opened.
Specifically, the contest is aimed at primary school children, becoming an opportunity to work, from an early age, with the values intrinsic to this concept.
The deadline for submission of works ends on November 30.

CARTAGENA TRANSPARENT CITY IN THE CLASSROOMS
This is the second edition of a measure that deepens the opinion of students about the concept of transparency.
It is also part of a global policy of the municipal government to promote, expand and strengthen transparency in municipal public activity, making citizens participate in it.
The work of the Department of Transparency, directed by María José Soler, has allowed the City of Cartagena to be a regional reference in guaranteeing the right to public information and Good Government.
This is certified by the fact that it complies with 100% of the quality and transparency indicators of public communication set by the Infoparticipa Seal, a state reference for the study of transparency and the quality of information from local administrations.
It has also received other awards such as the one made last spring by the Network of Local Entities for transparency and citizen participation, incorporating the tender procedure of minor contracts implemented by Isabel García to the list of good practices promoted by public bodies attached to the net.
In addition, Cartagena regularly participates in the main national meetings for debate and dissemination of transparency, as in the recent International Congress on Transparency that took place in Madrid.
THE VALUE OF TRANSPARENCY
In that meeting, Soler presented the initiative 'The Value of Transparency', a book published to convey "the value of transparency in a language adapted to children", an action added to the 'Cartagena Ciudad Transparente' contest.
The book hosts two stories, aimed at schoolchildren, supplemented by a guide aimed at teachers who intend to equip them with tools in their work.
'The value of transparency' raises two stories to work in the classroom values of this concept.
Through a task, the child will internalize the content.
From the municipal website you can access the children's stories, also translated into English, as well as the guide for teachers, composed of a set of activities.
"The sandwich" aims to convey to the student values such as truth, honesty and the right to information that is exercised through the questions.
The characters represent different attitudes and values.
"A new boss in the forest" is the second story.
Its objective is to transfer the concept of democracy and citizenship through the election of representatives.
