The families that promote the association Asido Cartagena, integrated into Plena Inclusión Region of Murcia, have recognized this Monday with their Amigo Solidario awards the support of people, companies and institutions to the group of people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability in the region.
This year the Mare Nostrum School of Nursery and Primary Education, the NH Campo de Cartagena hotel and the entrepreneur José Manuel Bernal Palma, logistics manager Jorber and partner of Café Lab have won this distinction. The winners have trophies of their hands of people with Down syndrome in the Consistorial Palace.
The event was attended by the Councilor for Quality of Life, Francisco Calderón, and the Councilor for Social Services and Social Mediation, Carmen Martín del Amor, as well as representatives of the entities that have been recognized and also the president of the association, Juan Pedro Sánchez.
"Public administrations have that obligation to be in solidarity with those who need us the most", recalled Carmen Martín during her speech, in which she thanked the generosity, solidarity and collaboration, which allows "to eliminate the obstacles" so that "the people with disabilities have the right to that equality of opportunities and an independent life that everyone is looking for ".
For his part, Francisco Calderón has also thanked on behalf of the City Council "to companies that bet on people with other capabilities" and has praised the work of these entities.
"With very little is done a lot," he pointed out.
All the people, institutions and companies that have been awarded have stood out in the collaboration with Asido Cartagena to achieve in different ways the full inclusion of the collective to which this NGO of families defends and represents.
Thus, in the case of the Mare Nostrum school, its decided commitment to the educational inclusion of students with Down syndrome with the rest of their classmates and the promotion of a positive vision of disability in the school environment is appreciated.
For its part, the NH Campo de Cartagena hotel is rewarded for facilitating the training of workers with Down syndrome and intellectual disability in the area of ​​hospitality, which gives them more opportunities to find a job.
In addition, there is a personal award for the entrepreneur who is behind Logística Jorber and who is also a member of Café Lab, José Manuel Bernal.
He would like to thank him for his selfless collaboration with the organization of the charity concert 'El Grito de Asido' and, above all, for connecting the association with many other businessmen in the region to whom he has convinced of the abilities of workers with a syndrome Down.
The Amigo Solidario awards are designed and prepared by the people with Down syndrome and intellectual disability in the workshops of the association.
Apart from this, the president of the association has announced that all the winners will receive the gratitude and affection of the more than one hundred families of Asido Cartagena in the traditional charity dinner that this year will be held on Saturday November 11 at 9: 00 hours in the restaurant El jardín de los Molinos, in the deputation of Molinos Marfagones.

Asido Cartagena is a non-profit organization that was born in 1993 and offers services of Early Care, Day Center, Employment Service, Family Support Service, Psychopedagogical and School Support, as well as Leisure and Free Time programs.
It also composes, along with 26 other associations, Plena Inclusión Region of Murcia, the federation of associations of families of people with intellectual disabilities.
