With the aim of visualizing how toys reinforce, or contribute, to overcome the stereotypes traditionally related to gender roles, the campaign "Let's not put a limit to your imagination: for a non-sexist toy", which is in its second edition.
With this campaign, the Department of Equality seeks to raise awareness among the population about the need to eliminate the sexist content of many games.
Councilman Equality, David Martinez Noguera, explained that the goal of this campaign is to reinforce or contribute to overcome stereotypes traditionally related to gender roles, "we want to promote equal and cooperative values, because toys are not only a instrument of fun, but also of learning ".
The campaign reaches schools, nursery schools, OMITAS, health centers and toy stores.
In this sense, Martinez Noguera has declared the sadness that it gives him when they still ask if the toy is for a boy or a girl, "I hope that this Christmas the Three Kings and Santa Claus are right with the gifts, and those toys allow the children learn, have fun and can develop your imagination in freedom ".
The Coordinator of Equality, Joaquina Martínez Muñoz, explained that last campaign reached twenty-eight schools and that this year already have the demand of fourteen.
"The last edition of the workshop reached the third and fourth grade children, but this year we do it in the first, first, second and third grade of primary school."
In this workshop it has been observed that stereotypes are learned, children are not born with them.
