Users of the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic of Cartagena will be able to access electronic books and audio books through the LeoCMN platform, which Odilo has developed, with a chair in the UPCT.
LeoCMN allows access to the catalog and loan works in digital format to read them on different devices: tablets, smart phones, personal computers or e-book readers.
It is also possible to access the platform through a mobile application (leoCMN).
There is a catalog of common contents for the users of the two universities, consisting mainly of a collection of audio books oriented to language learning, from which it is also possible to download the textual format, so that the user can listen to the audiobook and at the same time. Time to read the text in the original language.
This catalog also contains books with transversal contents.
In addition to the common catalog for the two universities, users have two catalogs with the recommended books in the different teaching programs of each university.
During the presentation of the platform, which was attended by the University of Murcia, Juan Antonio Pastor Sánchez, Library Coordinator and Antonio Juan García Fernández, Vice-Rector for Research;
and on behalf of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the Vice-Rector of Information and Communication Technologies, Mathieu Kessler and Juan Luis Pedreño, coordinator of the Odilo chair, as well as the CEO of the company, Rodrigo Rodríguez, has indicated the importance to encourage reading and it has been pointed out that in the future some type of collaboration could be established with the library network so that the loan of books from municipal libraries can also be accessed from the system.
