On Friday, November 3 at 12:30, the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, plans to open the Baroque Market, which will animate the streets of the Historic Quarter of Cartagena until Sunday.
An event that "will delay the clock of the time in the streets of Cartagena to the XVII century and that looks for the social integration, by means of the knowledge of the different cultures" as it has explained the councilman of Social Services, Carmen Martin, during his presentation next to the director of Piramide Art, Soledad Pérez, responsible for its assembly.
Throughout the weekend, those who come to this market can enjoy theater, parades of soldiers, dances, storytelling, parades of masks, and many more activities by 5 companies of dance, theater and animation childish.
It is worth mentioning the activity carried out by the Napoleonic Association of Valencia, of historical recreations, which will bring a Third of Lombardy formed by drum, captain and four soldiers who will cross the streets of the market and make a school of soldiers for the little ones.
Turdión Músicos, Charon arabesques, Entre Juglares, Saltimpumqui and Disparatorio will also perform.
Also for the little ones there will be didactic games, puppet theater, makeup, mimes, magic games, a carousel, a live uncle and a boat.
This year, in order to better publicize the customs and personalities of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, two exhibitions will be installed.
One of them will be a sample of costumes of the time that will be arranged in two tents in the Plaza de San Francisco, accompanied by furniture and explanatory panels.
In the same installation there will be an exhibition of illustrative sheets on the biographies of the main painters and writers of the time.
As an activity parallel to the Baroque Market, a quick painting competition and another one of artistic photography, directed by Cristina San Pedro, have also been organized.
The registration to both competitions can be done in a position located in the market.
The quick painting competition will take place on Saturday, November 4 from 11:00.
In addition, a meeting of different associations of Cartagena has been organized.
There will also be another 16 workshops demonstrating traditional trades such as blacksmithing, macrame, leather, basketwork, bakery or glass blowing.

Different information panels will also be installed along the route to know both the schedules and their distribution.
The market will be integrated this year by 120 crafts, food and hospitality stalls, of which 25 will be artisans from Cartagena.
Between the posts there will be Galician, German and Arab taverns.
The market will be located in San Diego Street, La Merced Square, Duque Street, Risueño Square, Serreta Street, San Ginés Square, Cuatro Santos Street, San Francisco Street and Plaza, and Palas Street.
During his presentation, he was able to see an advance with an exhibition of swordsmanship with a Basque and Biscayan sword, in which two soldiers of the Lombard Third were confronted on the steps of the Consistorial Palace.
