Around the festival of All Saints' Day is the tradition in Spanish theater the staging of the main work of José Zorrila: 'Don Juan Tenorio'.
The Auditorium and Conference Center El Batel joins this meeting with the representation on Tuesday October 31 of this classic of Spanish literature, by the troupe Amigos del Tenorio directed by Elvira Pineda, and organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena.
It will be at 9:00 pm and the tickets will cost 12 euros.
The Amigos del Tenorio Teachers Association was created in 2006 with the aim of promoting knowledge of the theater and, in particular, with the aim of promoting activities around the theatrical work 'Don Juan Tenorio' and bringing together people interested in both Zorrilla's text and his background and subsequent literary and theatrical works.
This association is made up of institute teachers, painters, sculptors, actors, producers, writers and other people related to the world of culture.
Every year, under the direction of Elvira Pineda, he puts on stage the play 'Don Juan Tenorio' in different stages from inside and outside the Region, in addition to other classical texts.
This is the most well-known and representative work of the author José Zorrilla, in which the figure of Don Juan Tenorio is shown, an inveterate seducer who will do whatever it takes to carry out his numerous conquests.
Thus, in one of his frequent amatory and brave boasts against his numerous victories and enemies he will confront Don Luis Mejía, seducing his fiancée Doña Inés, a novice promised to him by Don Gonzalo and breaking the pact after betting with Don Luis .
However, the comendador goes in search of his daughter and, when finding Don Juan, end up locked in a duel in which the father of Doña Inés is murdered.
At the same time, Don Luis Mejía wanting to avenge that his fiancée was seduced by Don Juan, will end up dead in his hands.
The theatrical association Amigos del Tenorio tries with this work to rescue the text of Zorrilla, as well as the unforgettable characters of Don Juan and Doña Ines, Brigida, Don Luis and Doña Ana, Ciutti, et cetera.
For this, it has a large cast of actors under the direction of a theater woman, Elvira Albero Pineda, granddaughter of actor Cecilio Pineda.
With a degree in Direction and Interpretation, theater director and actress - she has been in Brigida for many years - Elvira Pineda manages to transport us with a curtain to the Seville of 1545, specifically to the last years of King Carlos I of Spain.
