Coinciding with the Cartagena Jazz Festival, the Department of Education has launched the second edition of Educa Jazz, which throughout the month of November will bring this musical discipline to the little ones through performances in municipal children's schools, theater and music on the street.
The Delegate Councilor for Culture and Education, David Martínez, presented on Monday the educational program Educa Jazz 2017 in an act that has had a performance of the musical group Misercua, part of this project, as a demonstration of the activities that will be developed.
The fundamental objective of this campaign, explained the mayor, is "bring jazz to the school audience" and "offer their own space within the jazz program of Cartagena for children."
Martinez has highlighted the benefits of music in childhood: reduces stress and anxiety, contributes to increased memory and concentration, improves coordination of movements and a long etcetera.
According to the councilor, particularly jazz is "an open door to emotions" and "helps children to express what they feel without barriers" and "directly affects the state of mind."
Among the scheduled actions highlights 'Pequejazz', an initiative in which the musical group Misercua will act in ten municipal nursery schools throughout the month of November.
The program will start on Friday 3 in Bambi, continue on Wednesday 8 in Virgen de la Caridad, Friday 10 in Vista Alegre, Monday 13 in La Palma, Wednesday 15 in Los Mateos, Friday 17 in Pozo Estrecho, Monday 20 in Villalba, on Wednesday the 22nd in La Concepción, on Friday the 24th in Barrio Peral and will finish on Wednesday the 29th in La Milagrosa.
