Playa Paraiso will host on Sunday, November 12, from 9:00 am the I Mar Menor Running Challenge 2017, Senderos del Mar Menor, organized by the Sports Sport Games Association with the collaboration of the City Council of Cartagena and the regional government.
The first edition of this sport event will host several athletic events that will adapt to all requirements, categories and levels.
The councilor of Sports, Ricardo Segado, the General Director of Sports of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Alonso Gómez, and Lázaro Galindo, representing the Sports Sport Games Association, presented Friday the new event whose exit and goal will be located in the esplanade annexed to the Playa Paraíso Sports Complex.
According to data from the organization, it is expected that about 1,000 participants will meet in this Mar Menor Running Challenge, which will feature 5-kilometer, 10-kilometer and half-marathon races, and with non-competitive trekking and walking Nordic Walking.
All of them will travel, in the words of the mayor of Sports, "the best places on the coast of the Mar Menor," where the athletes who will compete in them "will give life and energize the coast area in the winter season."
Entries are open and can be formalized until Tuesday November 7 at 9 pm through the platform enabled on the website of the Federation of Athletics of the Region of Murcia.
The cost of the same oscillates between 15 and 18 euros, according to the test in which it participates, for the general public, and between 13 and 15 for federated athletes.
The day will start with the outputs of non-competitive trekking and Nordic Walk marches at 9:00 am and will continue with the competitive races of 5K, 10K and Half Marathon at 10:00 AM, all of them staggered.
The tour will depart from Playa Paraíso and will reach the height of the Estrella de Mar Urbanization in Los Urrutias, where you will turn around to return to the goal, which will be installed at the same place of departure.
In the case of the 10K and 5K will be turned before, in the kilometer point 5 and 2,5 respectively.
Ricardo Segado has encouraged to participate and to enjoy "a pioneering event in the national circuit of running, endorsed by the Federation of Athletics of the Region of Murcia" as well as to witness "the beautiful sport spectacle that shows in this type of events" and the "wonderful natural environment" offered by the Mar Menor.
It coincided with Alonso Gómez, who considers "an important incentive" this dynamization of a tourist area, thus contributing to the seasonal adjustment of its offer with a "festive day" of these characteristics.
The Director General of Sports has reminded that the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia also contributes to the organization of this event in an economic way.
The representative of the Sports Association Games Sport said that this test "aims to promote the Mar Menor" and added that "to make sports and cultural events in that area is very important for the Region of Cartagena, Mar Menor and Region of Murcia ".
Likewise, Lázaro Galindo has emphasized, like Segado and Gómez, that there will be "several disciplines that will bring together many people" and "to dynamize and greatly enhance the entire area of ​​the Mar Menor coastline."
The 'Mar Menor Running Challenge' 2017 will have a well provisioned provision, VIP area, and a television set from which the day will be streamed, through the website of the event and its YouTube channel.
Likewise, a report of the event will be issued later in the national teledeporte chain.
The day will conclude with the delivery of trophies, which is scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m.
There will be medals and trophies for the top three in each category in each event.
