This Thursday, October 26, several events were held prior to the XII AICEI 2017 Meeting, organized by the International Association of Cities and Entities of the Enlightenment, which will host the city of Cartagena from Friday 27, when it will officially open, until Sunday 28, and that will be on 'The illustrated city: Reformism and urban transformation'.
At 13:00 hours, the accreditations and documentation were delivered to the attendees in the Hall of Ceremonies of the Consistorial Palace.
Subsequently, at 14:00 hours there was a meal and at 16:30 a regular assembly of members of the entity was held in the Hall of Councilors of the Consistorial Palace.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 pm, participants at the meeting paid a visit to the former Barracks of Instruction of Mariners (CIM) where they received a lecture given by the architect rehabilitating the building, José Manuel Chacón.
Then, in an act open to the public, at 8:00 pm, the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena offered a concert in the Isaac Peral Hall, in this same space.
The recital was conducted by two of the founding members of the orchestra, Alejandro Solano (marimba and vibraphone) and Cristina Sánchez (piano), who will interpret works of Classicism and S.XX.
The day ended with a dinner.
Cartagena has for many years been part of the International Association of Cities and Entities of the Enlightenment (AICEI), which is defined as an entity "with the interest of study and research" of the Enlightenment period "in the various spheres of its manifestation: architecture, art, urbanism, thought, science, humanistic values ​​".
