The Center for Early Childhood Development and Early Warning (CDIAT) and medical and functional rehabilitation of the ASTUS Guardianship Association at the Hospital de Caridad 'Los Pinos' received this morning the visit of the acting mayor, Juan Pedro Torralba , the President of the Region, Fernando López Miras and the Councilor for Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás.
The president of the association, Joaquín Barberá, along with members of the association, has been in charge of showing them the facilities.
A visit made by members of local and regional institutions to know these facilities in detail, and with that to thank and recognize the work of ASTUS, which celebrates 50 years working with people with intellectual disabilities and improving their quality of life.
It should be remembered that the City Council collaborated last year to maintain the center with two grants, one of 8,000 euros to adapt the facilities, and another of 12,865 euros for both the activity that takes place in these facilities, and the Day Center Astus.
The acting mayor congratulated ASTUS on the work carried out by the association and the professionals who make it up "to keep day-to-day care of people with disabilities" and to carry out much needed work.
"From the City of Cartagena we are very aware of the social issue and we will be very high so that all these initiatives do not stop," said Torralba, who visited for the first time these facilities in which it will be one of his last institutional visits as acting mayor.
The president of Astus has thanked the collaboration of both the City Council, "which has always responded magnificently" as the Autonomous Community.
He also wanted to highlight the "vitality" of Astus after half a century of work.
A clear fact in their active participation in the different events of the city and in the local administration bodies that work on policies to help people with disabilities, such as the Municipal Disability Plan and the Accessibility Commission.
Barberá recalled that this is one of the last events to be celebrated on the occasion of the 50 anniversaries, and that he hopes to conclude with the next inauguration of his new center, 'La Resi'.
This infrastructure, which is already in the process of installing the furniture, is an Integral Complex for people with Intellectual Disability and / or Cerebral Palsy Major or in the process of aging.
The center will have 25 places of residence and 72 of Day Center.
He also wanted to take advantage of the occasion to claim the early approval of the Decree on Assistance to Early Care, for whose preparation Astus has participated through allegations and proposals to the project.
The legal text will guarantee this service in a public, free and universal way to the more than 3,600 children who need it in the Region, and in which López Miras has indicated that it is working from the Regional Government so that it comes into force soon.
At present the early care offered at the center that has been visited is totally free, and its activity is supported by the quotas of the partners that integrate ASTUS.
The entry into force of the aforementioned Decree allows for a deficit in the activity of the CDIAT, as it is subsidized, and that the quotas can be used for other needs of Astus, informed its president.
THE VIRGEN OF CHARITY CDIAT
The CDIAT was inaugurated in 1974 with the aim that children with developmental disorders or at risk of suffering from them, receive, following a model that considers the bio-psycho-social aspects, everything that from the preventive and care aspects can enhance their capacity for development and well-being.
