From January to June 2017, regional exports of live animals reached 107.37 million euros
The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries takes to the city of Cartagena, on the occasion of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Livestock, Industrial and Agri-Food Fair of Lorca (SEPOR), an exhibition that shows the evolution of the regional agro- the last 50 years.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Francisco Jodar, and the president of the Port Authority of Cartagena, Antonio Sevilla, inaugurated today in the Port of Cartagena the sample '50 years making Region ', an exhibition that, as a giant dome, shows images and landmarks of the history of agriculture, livestock and fishing in the Region of Murcia.
The exhibition will be in the Port of Cartagena until next October 29.
The head of Water stated that "this sample is only part of the important history of a strategic sector of the Region, great generator of employment and wealth and increasingly competitive in international markets."
Following the presentation in Madrid of the program and the SEPOR commemorative events, "we come to Cartagena to add the city to the celebration," said the councilor, who explained that the port of Cartagena is one of only two ports in Spain authorized for the export of livestock, "and is subjected to rigorous sanitary controls by the veterinary inspectors of the Ministry.
From January to June 2017, exports of live animals reached 107.37 million euros, of which 2.39 million euros correspond to the pork sector (2.15 million euros in the first six months of 2016). represents an increase of 11.16 percent).
These data place the Region of Murcia as the sixth province that more pig meat sells outside Spain (behind Galicia, Catalonia, Castile and Leon, Aragon and Navarre).
Regarding the main destinations, in the first six months of the year exports were concentrated in Germany and Italy.
Program
'Sepor 50' is held from 6 to 9 November at the fairground Huerto de la Rueda de Lorca.
The official program includes tastings, demonstrations and tributes to the protagonists of the fair.
There will also be an international symposium on pork and poultry production, the fourth avian monographic symposium, a national day of beef cattle, two monographs on sheep and goats, and the usual commercial and field presentations on the livestock sector.
The exhibition 'Retrospective graphic: A story in pictures', which was held in Madrid from 17 to 22 October in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, can be seen in the Orchard Ruano de Lorca until next 13 November.
