The Councilor for the Quality of Life Area of the City of Cartagena, Francisco Calderón, has denounced the "mistreatment and helplessness" suffered by users of Health Area II, which encompasses the municipalities of La Unión, Fuente Álamo, Mazarrón and Cartagena , having to support waiting lists above the regional average.
Yesterday Wednesday and after studying the data published by the Murcia Health Service in relation to the waiting lists as of September 2017, the Platform in Defense of Public Health 'Salvemos el Rosell' issued a statement that showed this situation .
Specifically, with respect to surgical interventions, it has been increased from the 100 days of waiting in June 2017 to 124 in September, reaching a figure of 1,681 patients with no assigned date, which means an increase of 554 people in three months.
Similarly, the time to be attended by a specialist in external consultations has gone from 59 to 107 days from June to September this year, which translates into 7,534 patients with no date assigned.
Following this trend, the waiting days for diagnostic technique reach 36 days in the Health Area II, while for digestive endoscopy the waiting period reaches 112 days, both of which are significantly higher than the regional average.
Calderón said that after knowing these data "it is necessary to deepen the study of non-compliance by the regional government of the Law of the Rosell to determine their prosecution in defense of the rights of the neighbors of Area II."
The Councilor for Quality of Life has also said that it is essential to do this joint work "of all those political forces that serve the common good and not their own interests, all groups, associations and citizens in general."
