To commemorate its tenth anniversary, the Association for the Assistance and Research of Personality Disorders in Cartagena, Comarca and Mar Menor (TP Cartagena MM) has organized the First Day of Personality Disorders 'The role of the family'.
The Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín del Amor, and the president of the TPCartagena MM Association, Carmen Gutiérrez de Uriarte were today in charge of presenting the day program with the association's psychologist, Josefa Maria Martín.
For the Councilor of Social Services, Carmen Martín del Amor, "to reflect the reality of illness and psychic disorders helps to normalize it and put it in place before society, because most cases have a cure."
According to the mayor, from the public associations should be demanded the non-discrimination against the collective of people with mental illness and psychic disorders in society.
From the city council of Cartagena they commit to provide the health services that these patients need for their prompt detection and intervention.
These disorders are suffered by 10 percent of the population.
Together with the suffering of the patient is the family that become caretakers.
All of them are supported and advised by the association (TP Cartagena MM).
Presentations will be given by experts from the field of psychiatry and psychology, as well as public and private institutions dedicated to the care of people with personality disorders and their families.
The event is aimed at professionals and students in the field of mental health and the population in general and has the collaboration of the Department of Social Services of the City of Cartagena.
The president of the Association TPCartagena MM, Carmen Gutiérrez de Uriarte explained that the presentations will be on 'The importance of work with the family in personality disorders', given by the psychologist Dolores Mosquera;
'The current reality of the hospital treatment of Personality Disorders', offered by Carlos Gª Brisol, psychiatrist of the unit of the hospital of Santa Lucia;
and on 'Personality, Family and Personality Disorders', a presentation by the psychologist and professor at the University of Murcia, Francisco Javier Corbalán.
The 1st Day of Personality Disorders 'The role of the family' will be held on Friday, October 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Cultural Hall of the Fundación Caja Mediterráneo, Calle Mayor, 13, The inscription is free, until filling capacity, by writing an email to inscripcionestpcartagena@gmail.com.
