The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, attended today the concert of the Music Unit of the General Air Academy (AGA) organized by Cartagena for Charity.
At the event, he stressed that the Community is financing with 2.191.000 euros the attention to the thousands of people at risk of exclusion in the city.
In her speech, the counselor made a tour of all the associations with which the Community collaborates in caring for the most disadvantaged.
Specifically, it is being financed the collective La Huertecica, San Pedro Shop Asilo, the program La Key de Rascasa, the shelter of Jesus Abandoned, the social center of Caritas, the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, the House Cradle and Food Bank.
Alongside them are Accem, the Good Samaritan, the Hospitality of Santa Teresa and the Abraham Project.
The minister stressed "the great work that all these entities develop" and added that Cartagena for the Caridad "is a meeting point to face all those social organizations that are working to care for others and continue to support."
In this 11th edition of Cartagena for Charity, the Music Unit of the General Air Academy offered an extraordinary concert, whose benefits will go this year to the House of Elders of the Little Sisters of the Poor and the Association of Help and Research of personality disorders in Cartagena, region and Mar Menor.
The association's activity continues, as a charity dinner will be held next November 11 to support the association 'El Sueño de Vicky' in its actions to treat childhood cancer, in which the counselor will be named president of honor.
Likewise, the awards will be given to the Charity 2017, which have been awarded to volunteers with people with cancer and their relatives in the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), volunteers of the Hope Group of the International Association of Charity San Vicente de Paúl and the marriage formed by Gabriel Fernández Ruiz and Paqui Subiela Madrid.
More funding for municipal social services
On the other hand, Violante Tomás also mentioned that the Autonomous Community finances with more than 1.3 million euros the Municipal Social Services of Cartagena.
This endowment has increased by 5.8 percent over last year in order to serve the citizens of this municipality.
The Community has recently granted a nominative grant for a total amount of 1,337,575 euros to finance the Social Services of Primary Social Care of the City of Cartagena.
The Social Services of Primary Care will allocate this budget to the hiring of three more social workers, since they constitute the first level of attention of the social services system.
"The aim is to ensure the attention, promotion and inclusion of people with social needs as important as situations of dependency or processes of social exclusion.This is reflected in the funding for the maintenance of current professionals and a relevant budget injection "said the counselor.
