The Popular University Thursday paid a well-deserved tribute to Professor Lola Fernández Moreno, who for many years was a bulwark of this entity, until a tragic accident took her life four years ago.

The event was attended by a large audience, which completely filled the room and among those who were family and friends of Lola, the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez Noguera, the Director of Culture, Chenchi Plazas, the director of the Popular University, José Macián, professors and students of the UP and the coral Carthagonova, of which Lola was part.

This tribute responded to the general feeling of this institution, cultural heritage of the city, which recognizes the work of those who have been part of it, giving themselves with affection and dedication to their work.

The director of the Popular University emphasized that "the imprint left by Lola is evident in the day-to-day life of the UP, as there are often references to professors and students to her, her knowledge and her great generosity".

Lola Fernández gave classes in Language and Literature, created the Bazaar of Letters, coordinated the Sea of ​​Letters, knew Latin, Greek and mythology, since she was a person with an ample formation, in whose life they emphasized two great hobbies: the music and the travels.

In this act also took part the edil of Culture, who put in value "the vocation of service to the citizens, the professionalism and delivery of Lola to this Institution", the director of the UP, José Macián, the teacher Isabel Hernández and two of the students of the Bazar de Letras, Milagros Márquez and Pilar Galindo.

On the occasion of this posthumous tribute, a commemorative sculpture was inaugurated in his honor by the councilman David Martínez Noguera, who also had the presence of the family.

The sculpture is located next to the classrooms of the Popular University, and in addition, from now on Classroom 2 will be called Aula Lola Fernández.

The family showed their gratitude to the Institution for this endearing tribute, which ended with the brilliant performance of the Coral Carthagonova.
