The plenary session of the City Council of Cartagena, meeting this morning, under the chairmanship of the acting mayor, Juan Pedro Torralba, unanimously approved a joint motion of PSOE and CTSSP to give priority to the names of women who have highlighted in various facets the time to designate new streets and public spaces.
This measure will seek to increase the visibility of the role played by women in the history of Cartagena and try to alleviate the current lack of names, consisting of a study of the official chroniclers, Francisco Franco and Luis Miguel Perez Adán.
Likewise, a new section will be enabled on the website of the Department of Equality where the women already investigated and their biographies will be related and others will be added that have been significant both for their actions and for their repercussion in the daily life of the city, the neighborhoods or the deputations.
The plenary began at ten o'clock in the morning keeping a minute of silence for the victims of the fires of Galicia and Portugal and the pilots who recently died by accident in Albacete and Madrid.
GREEN LIGHT AT TAXES AND TAXES
The agenda was approved, among other issues, the most prominent, provisional approval of the modification of the ordinances of taxes and municipal taxes and Custom Plan of Payments of the City of Cartagena for the year 2018.
From the Municipal Government, both Francisco Aznar and Isabel García, have highlighted the bonuses introduced especially in the ICIO that will benefit tourism and horticultural companies, as well as the increase of bonuses to public universities that are installed outside the Casco Urbano, maintenance of the reduction of IBI for citizens and the new flexibility of the Custom Tax Payment Plan, which may be requested in any period of the year and will not need to be renewed annually.
For its part, CTSSP, which abstained in the vote, explained its position by pointing out that there were no studies to evaluate the impact of the measures;

Manuel Padín, Citizens, has justified the group's support saying that although the proposal was improveable, some of the measures that his group had promoted were included.
The most critical position has been the PP, through Esperanza Nieto, who has assured that the rates cover up rises and that the proposal breached the promise to lower the water and the ibi and that it was not going to foment the employment.
FREE TRANSPORTATION
Returning to the section of motions, the plenary has unanimously approved the one formulated by the socialist councilman David Martinez, urging the Council of Government to study and take into consideration a Regional School Transport Plan that includes as beneficiaries of this service the students of teachings not compulsory, especially Baccalaureate and Vocational Training.
MEDITERRANEAN CORRIDOR AND BAIPÁS DE BENIEL
The inclusion of Cartagena in the Mediterranean corridor and the construction of the bay of Beniel has been another issue unanimously approved in plenary.
The initiative has been presented by MC spokesman José López and urges the Government of Spain to proceed firmly and seriously in the Beniel baipas, drawing up the projects and evacuating the procedures that are necessary, as well as including sufficient budgetary allocation for these and the work to be done.
It also calls for action to be taken in the same way as for the electrification of the Chinchilla-Cartagena route and up to Albacete to ensure at all times the rail service to the Region of Cartagena, ending the isolation that has occurred this month.
EXTRAORDINARY YOUNG PEOPLE
From the municipal group of CTSSP, the plenary has unanimously approved a motion presented by its spokesman Pilar Marcos for the Youth Department to study the launch of prizes for "Extraordinary Youth" in order to recognize and promote the development of young people in Cartagena.
The Councilor for Youth, Ricardo Segado, recalled the impetus given to young people from their council as awards through sports or the competition Between Strings and Metals.
Also proposed by Pilar Marcos, with the abstention of the PP, was a motion on inventory of illegal landfills, environmental restoration and measures against the proliferation of debris and garbage in Lo Campano.
Francisco Martinez, also of the CTSSP, obtained the unanimous support of the corporation for his motion to urge the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports to address the deficiencies in the Center for Early Childhood Education and Primary San Isidoro of El Algar, concerning lack of classrooms, sports areas, warehouse, removal of asbestos roof and other deficiencies in the electrical and water networks.
COLLEGE OF CRIMINOLOGISTS
The plenary has also approved the motion submitted by the Citizens' spokesperson, Manuel Padín, in support of the creation of a Professional College of Criminology in the Region of Murcia.
The initiative has been supported by all municipal groups.
USE SOCIOSANITARIO OF IES ANTONIO ARÉVALO
On the other hand, the president of the popular group, Antonio Calderón, was able to carry out, with the support of Citizens, the vote against CTSSP and abstentions of MC and PSOE, his motion to enable the assignment of use of spaces of the former IES Antonio Arévalo to social-health entities.
The motion also called for an extension of the two-year cession period to a minimum of ten, so that the entities can make and amortize the investments necessary to adapt these facilities to the current regulations.
The Councilor for Education, David Martinez, justified the Government's abstention in the fact, that although they agreed on the merits, the matter should be previously approved by the Autonomous Community.
NEW CARTAGENA AND HALF LEGUA
With the votes against PSOE and MC, and the support of Citizens and CTSSP has approved another motion presented by the popular councilman Diego Ortega, so that the Local Government study, according to the neighborhood association, the closure of the Park Juan Carlos I of New Cartagena.
Also with the votes against PSOE and MC, and the rest, another motion has been approved by this same popular councilor for the City Council to design a plan of action with repairs and investments, for the Media Legua, according to the association of neighbors and counting on the opinion of all the municipal groups.
ST. LUCIA
Regarding the Barrio de Santa Lucía, the plenary has unanimously approved a motion by the popular councilwoman Carolina Palazón to produce a specific program for the valorization and beautification of the neighborhood where all possible economic contributions, subsidies, European programs are sought , contributions from other administrations and municipal budget;
while working with the Port Authority in the project of the shells, a project already defined and not implemented for months, which would provide the neighborhood with more tourist attraction, and seek a solution to the financing problems of the Museum of the Glass.
