Initiatives have been approved for improvements in the Barrio Universitario and Monte Sacro
The administrative building of San Miguel has hosted this morning a meeting of the Board of Directors of the municipal society Casco Antiguo, under the presidency of José López (MC).
Antonio García, mayor of MC, Isabel García and Francisco Calderón, as well as representatives of the different municipal groups, were also present.
After the session, José López explained that the technical modification of the project for the adaptation of the PERI CA-4 (Barrio Universitario), for 185,000 euros, has been approved, after knowing the need to carry out complementary actions after the execution of the work of the mentioned project.
This shows the existence of a greater number of deficiencies and defects in the construction, hidden until the moment, being necessary to repair the sunken paving stone and also an increase of the hearth.
The implementation of these complementary actions will not entail any additional expenditure, thanks to the implementation of the endorsement of the urbanization.
Likewise, the Council has agreed to submit to the General Directorate of Cultural Property of CARM the modification of the project for the construction of a new urban space in front of the Calle Sor Francesca Armendáriz in Monte Sacro, authorizing the manager to an expense not exceeding to 60,000 euros in this concept.
This change is motivated by the appearance of different archaeological remains as a pool and Roman soil.
Likewise, it has been determined to launch a competition to carry out the rehabilitation of the Monte Sacro mill.
The results of the Campus of Archeology carried out in this area have also been treated, having found a Roman soil and a vessel with remains of animals, among others.
Other considerations
In another vein, the president of Casco Antiguo, José López, reminded the members of the Council of the situation in which society was found at the beginning of this legislature and the change of course that has taken place.
"The management of these two years has been exemplary in terms of results and the different actions marked by social sustainability and, especially, in neighborhoods like Los Mateos," said López.
José López has lamented "political interference," also stating that MC is committed to "efficiency" in management, referring to the debate over the settlement or maintenance of Casco Antiguo, expressing the desire to reach a common meeting point between members of the Council that would be beneficial to Cartagena.
Lopez has praised the work of the manager, Antonio Garcia, who, with a lower salary than he received as a university teacher, "has contributed his work not only in Casco Antiguo, but also in the Congress Office or in European projects."
"Antonio Garcia is here for Cartagena," he said.
The president of Casco Antiguo has called for the use of the criterion of municipal technicians on the future of society, ruling out the use of a political criterion in this regard.
In addition, it has advanced different options for the future that would include the inclusion of Casco staff as an administrative unit of the City Council, focused on the sustainable development of neighborhoods most affected by social exclusion.
