The students of the Popular University of Cartagena have realized, this past bridge of the Pillar, a cultural trip to England.
Students, especially those of languages, have had the opportunity to know the English cities of Liverpool and Chester.
In Liverpool have toured the most emblematic places of this city, such as the Word Museum, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and the Tate, among others.
Highlights such as the port, declared Universal Heritage of Humanity, as well as its streets, parks, neighborhoods and cathedrals: Anglican and Catholic.
In addition, they made an essential stop to visit the Cavern Club, a mythical place in Beatles history, as well as the museum of this emblematic English pop / rock band, whose activity started in the 1960s, and recognized as the most successful commercially and most praised by critics in the history of popular music.
For its part, Chester is a medieval city, famous for being the only one in England that still retains a walled enclosure, of which some stretches go back to Roman times.
Both the students and the director of the UP, José Macián, have highlighted their beautiful 13th century Norman cathedral and its main street Eastgate.
In this way is where the spectacular houses with half-timbered facades and the historical passages with commercial galleries, known as 'The Rows' and corresponding to the thirteenth century.
For the students of the pottery workshop an important visit has been the 'British Ceramic Biennal' in Stoke-on trent.
The center has a universal exhibition of ceramics, considered at the moment as the most advanced in Europe and has allowed them to be formed and documented. "For the Popular University this has been a great experience to know two magnificent cities that have contributed a a legacy unique to European culture.
In addition, for our students in the language workshops it has been a great opportunity to practice English and soak up the British way of life ", explained the director of UP, José Macián.
