The Governing Council has approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Family and Equal Opportunities, an agreement with the City of Cartagena to provide the Specialized Psychological Care Service for Children Exposed to Gender Violence (Sapmex).
This service provides psychological support to children of women victims of gender violence in the Region who have been exposed or have directly suffered these situations of violence, so as to guarantee their right to a life free of violence.
Since it was launched in 2009, a total of 866 children have gone through Sapmex.
This resource, which will begin to be provided in the CAVI of Cartagena, allows a comprehensive approach to the needs of women and children under their care, through psychological support to the whole family in a specialized manner, with the objective that this traumatic situation has no sequelae in the future of minors.
The agreement also aims to train CAVI professionals to be able to identify the needs of the minor children of the victims.
