The Department of Social Services and Social Mediation and Maestros Mundi, this October, take up the Volunteer Project of Socio-Educational Support "Coaching Project" for which the participation of new volunteers.
The program will work in this new stage of the 2017/2018 school year with 66 elementary students from different schools in Cartagena from Social Services to prevent school failure and absenteeism of these children with educational difficulties or at risk of social exclusion.
The strategy used in this program is a personalized coaching method with families and children to help the development of the autonomy, the conscience and the responsibility of the people, so that they themselves are the agents of their own changes.
Program leaders and volunteers work through workshops and school reinforcement activities, as well as maintaining regular contact with families to get their involvement.
This personalized methodology with families and children also has the objective of creating a bond between the volunteer the child and his parents, starting from the idea that it is impossible to carry out an educational work but there are some bonds of trust and mutual knowledge.
TRAINING OF VOLUNTEERS
This project aims to sensitize the population in general and especially the youth about social participation and volunteering.
Volunteers receive training to train them and enhance their knowledge and skills for a more effective intervention.
A formation that can later serve them professionally, but which also makes them more aware of the social problems that exist in their environment and allows them to be an active part in the solution of them.
The volunteer team consists of about 15 people who will work during the month of October with 33 students who already participated in the project last year.
Simultaneously begins the recruitment and training of new volunteers to work from November with the new 33 children who will be part of the program.

This innovative project is taking shape and strengthening the team of volunteers which allows the expansion of cases that can be attended.
During the 2016/2017 School Year, 39 children were attended.
