The rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Alejandro Díaz Morcillo, today signed a collaboration agreement with the company Optimiza Protective & Consulting for the creation of the UPCT-Corrosion Engineering and Coatings Technology Chair, which will develop a program or its own title in this area.
The new chair of the Cartagena Polytechnic will also promote the greater diffusion and knowledge of all aspects related to corrosion engineering and coating technology.
In addition, the Chair plans to organize three annual seminars with high added value for industry and provides for visits to companies in the area that perform tasks and work to control corrosion.
With the students, work breakfasts will be organized to launch a brainstorming program for the development of projects and the student section of NACE International Spain will be created.
On the other hand, from the new chair will be awarded a prize to the student or student of the year, consisting of a trip paid to the conference of the most important sector of the world, held annually in the United States.
The student will have the opportunity to accompany and be able to present a research work together with an Optimiza technician.
Optimiza is the thirty-sixth chair of the Network of Chairs of the UPCT.
The companies that integrate it occupy a space assigned within the University with the commitment of the same ones to develop activities of I + D + iy and to summon scholarships for the students of the last courses.
In 2015, the UPCT's Network of Chairs won the National University Enterprise Award from the Spanish Network of Foundations Universidad Empresa (REDFUE), awarded for the concept of organization and unification of all chairs under one roof, something completely new in Spain .
