The Popular University (UP) has presented the activities and workshops that have been programmed for this 2017/2018 course with more than 50 proposals among its areas of training, languages, workshops, humanities, new technologies, health and wellness, and routes and trips cultural, including novelties such as Chinese, Art Therapy or the Bazaar of Cinema,
This was presented by the Councilor for Culture, Education and Equality, David Martinez, at a press conference that took place on Thursday in which he was accompanied by the director of the UP, José Maciá, and where the mayor has ensured that the institution starts the new course "reiterating objectives, creating new paths and joining forces in favor of lifelong training", with the aim of "acquiring, updating, completing and expanding our capacities, knowledge, skills and competences for the development and growth professional staff ".
During the 2016/2017 academic year, the participation of people between courses and workshops was over 50% higher than the previous year, reaching a figure of 1,620 attendees, a fact that, according to the Councilor for Education in Cartagena, "encourages continue working in the same line and intensify, if possible, even more efforts. "
For this reason, in this course, within the Training Area, the offer of courses for the preparation of Access to the University for Seniors of 25 and 45 years, the courses for Access to Higher Education Modules and Middle Degree and the Preparation for Obtaining the ESO Degree.
"Learning a language is of vital importance in many aspects of our life," said David Martinez, while announcing the courses that he maintains from previous years of English and German in different levels, as well as the novelty of this edition, which includes initiation into Chinese, covering new demands in the Language Area.
In addition, the Workshop Area will allow students to develop their artistic and creative potential, with proposals such as the Drawing and Painting Workshop, Sculpture and Modeling, Ceramics, Handicrafts, and Textile Cutting and Confection. new art therapy workshop.
These will not only be held at the headquarters of the Popular University, but will also move to the districts and councils of Cartagena to facilitate the participation of the neighbors of these areas.
"Last year we got to do 80 workshops in neighborhoods and councils," something José Maciá has described as "a success".
Thus, this course will be transferred new proposals "that are going to excite the associations of the districts and councils".
On the other hand, in the Humanities Area, the Singing and Vocal Technique Works begin, as well as the Bazaar of Cinema that joins the Bazaar of Letters, and recovers the cineforum.
In the area of ​​New Technologies and Photography, have included the new workshops 'Apasiónate por la Fotografía' and Advanced Digital Photography.
In turn, a series of visits and cultural trips have been included within the Area of ​​Cultural Routes, through which the attendees will be able to discover through guided tours the history and values ​​of the heritage of Cartagena.
Another of the main novelties of this course, as explained by the director of UP, is the creation of the School of Emotional Intelligence, with the collaboration of the University of Murcia, through the project 'Creciéndote'.
Maciá expressed his satisfaction in explaining that both the AMPAS and the 10 centers selected to participate showed their willingness from the outset for this new initiative, a pioneering pilot project in Spain.
It is a series of workshops that will perform from October to January 2018 the students of 5th and 6th Primary Education.
