This Saturday, October 7, Cartagena will celebrate the seventh MTB Girls' Fall, coinciding with the Association Women's Fair of Cartagena, an event that will bring together women cyclists from all over the Region of Murcia who share a same hobby: mountain bike .
This was announced by the Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, in a press conference in which he was accompanied by the coordinators of the event, Blanca Chereguini and Susana Otón, and by the Coordinator of Sports Activities, Eduardo Armada.
The event will begin at 9.00 am from the esplanade of the Muralla del Mar Campus of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT).
The participants will travel 38 kilometers in a circuit that will take them through the Montes de San Julián, the battery of Trincabotijas, Vista Alegre and Alumbres, until reaching the goal in the Plaza Heroes of Cavite, around 13.00.
After the bike route, participants will enjoy a tour on the tourist boat through the port of Cartagena and receive gifts.
Segado has assured that the sport "allows them to know different places and share experiences in a healthy way", since this type of events combines sport, culture and tourism.
Thus, it is "a new opportunity to live a sports party" and has invited all interested women "to participate in the natural environment and the activities that the organization has prepared."
For their part, the coordinators have shown their enthusiasm for the arrival of this event, which this year falls on Cartagena.
"It is an excuse to be able to meet once a year," explained Blanca Chereguini, who thanked the collaborating companies, clubs and associations that have made the event possible in the city and that Saturday "be a great day".
Along the same lines has been expressed by Susana Otón, who explained that these encounters arose six years ago with the intention of being held in different locations "to spend a day in nature, enjoy the sport that unites us and know the environment of the city".
The coordinator of sports activities of the City Council has highlighted the commitment of the council for the sport for women and, therefore, the proposal of Chereguini and Otón to carry out the VII Turnout MTB girls in Cartagena fit the municipal objectives.
"When people who work and take 80 or 90% of the work come, we have to contribute and help," he said.
Finally, Armada recalled that this Sunday will be held in Cartagena Bike Day with an event in favor of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
In this way, has ensured that over the weekend, "we will be at the top of the bike for health and mobility."
