The young volunteers of the strategy Free Cartagena de Rumores, an initiative organized by the City Council through the Department of Social Services, is already studying proposals for activities to implement this course in 2017/18, after having participated in the Second Youth Summit Antirumores, held last September in Getxo.
The volunteer group, which meets monthly, is formed by young people between 17 and 24 years old, involved in the anti-corruption strategy since its implementation last March.
Remember that the Antirumores Strategy is an innovative initiative that is being promoted in various Spanish and European cities to dismantle prejudices, negative stereotypes and false rumors about certain groups, such as immigrants, constituting the main barriers that hinder positive interaction between citizens in contexts of increasing sociocultural diversity.
Thus, the main objective of the project "anti-corruption strategy to prevent racism" is to promote and consolidate a strategy of communication and long-term awareness, with the aim of countering the negative stereotypes, topics and false rumors circulating about immigration and cultural diversity, and that hinder interaction and coexistence and can lead to discriminatory and racist attitudes.
