The Department of Social Services has celebrated the Day of Elders today with a series of activities, such as the start of the program of Hiking and the visit to the people of the municipality who have not been able to participate in the events that will take place this afternoon.
The Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín, accompanied the group of elderly people this morning have opened the course of the program of Hiking with the historic route 'The legacy of the Enlightenment'.
Subsequently, the mayor has visited three centenarians in their homes: Concepción Lorente, Ignacio Vidal and Carmen English.
The events will continue this afternoon with the reading of the manifesto for the International Day of Older People, at 17.30, at the door of the Palace Hall, which will also attend the president of the Federation of Associations of Elderly People of Cartagena, Maria Beteta , the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín, and the Councilor for the Quality of Life Area, Francisco Calderón.
Subsequently, at 18.00 hours, the commemoration of the elderly will be held in the Culture Hall of the Caja Mediterráneo Social Work.
