The Area of ​​Sustainable Development and Transparency of the City of Cartagena has launched a new initiative to promote the values ​​associated with Transparency among the smallest.
This action consists of the edition of a book, which has worked a group of pedagogues, which includes two children's stories as well as a guide for teachers and a series of pedagogical activities in order to bring this concept closer and more understandable the students of the first courses of Primary Education.
The Councilor for Sustainable Development and Transparency, María José Soler, presented on Tuesday the digital and printed versions with this book of children's stories, titled 'The value of Transparency', which explains this concept and its values ​​in a language adapted to the children and that is framed within the activities that develops the area of ​​which it is responsible for the promotion of the culture of transparency.
The mayor has specified that from the municipal government and, in a more concrete way, from the council that he directs the pedagogical work is understood as "something fundamental" in his work.
"To educate in the transparency is to educate in the values ​​that this new concept gives off so that the boy-young-adult transition ends with a complete person, prepared for the challenges of the future, but also to reach out to the next one," said Soler .
DIGITAL AND PAPER RESOURCE
They have been printed around 5,000 copies that will be distributed by the different educational centers of the municipality so that they become part of the collections of their respective libraries, but also the students will be able to access this material downloadable through internet through a banner placed in the Transparency Portal, which will redirect to a page in which the Spanish and English versions of the book will be available, which has two stories with which to work in the classroom the values ​​associated with Transparency and that will allow to transmit concepts that the the minor will internalize by doing their own, as well as the guide for the teacher and, on the other hand, a set of activities for teachers to work with the students in the classroom in order to strengthen the acquisition of the values ​​transmitted.
'The sandwich' is the first of the two stories that this booklet collects, and seeks to convey to the student the values ​​of truth, responsibility, honesty and the right to information that is exercised through the questions, conveying to them that asking is not bad but a way of getting to know things and facts.
He is followed by 'A new leader in the forest', who seeks to translate the concept of democracy and civility through the election of representatives and also explain the convenience of accounting and explanation, all linked to the value of justice and equity.
Both comic books, together with the pedagogical activities prepared, will facilitate the familiarization of school children with the concept of Transparency.
"It is a pioneering experience in Spain and that is ahead of a future inclusion of this subject in academic curricula", proclaimed the mayor, who also stressed that "the acquisition of social and civic competences related to Transparency are the main objective of this work "as well as" educate in democratic values ​​and create democratic and civic consciousness. "
Soler also recalled that Transparency became "one of the main demands of citizenship" and also noted that "this initiative reinforces the understanding of the concept of Transparency and the transfer of associated values", so that understand it better.
II CONTEST 'CARTAGENA CITY TRANSPARENT'
The mayor has specified that in the future will also work with the students of Secondary and has announced that the second edition of the competition 'Cartagena Ciudad Transparente' will be held shortly, which last year was a successful participation.
In the section prepared for the contest in the Portal of Transparency will include a video with the drawings of all the children involved last year.
