The Municipal Stadium Cartagonova will, after 30 years, wear a new tapestry in the matches that will face FC Cartagena with Sevilla FC in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey at the end of October and the Spanish Under-21 National Team Slovakia qualifying phase for the Euro Cup of Italy 2019 of this category on 14 November.
This was announced today by the acting mayor of the port city, Juan Pedro Torralba, along with the Minister of Sports of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Adela Martínez-Cachá, and the president of FC Cartagena, Francisco Belmonte, in a press conference that was attended by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón - currently down for her recent maternity -, Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, the delegate councilor for Social Services and Social Mediation, Carmen Martín del Amor, the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, the general director of sports, Alonso Gómez, and representatives of the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia.

The work of replacing the turf will begin next Monday and are scheduled to end in 12 days, October 14, and will be run by the company Novogreen, which has been in charge of renewing the green of fields such as the Santiago Bernabéu, Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán and Benito Villamarín.
The process that will be followed to improve the Cartagonova will start with the removal of the vegetation cover, will continue with the provision of a complete drainage network with new pipes, the base preparation of the pitch with its leveling, conditioning of the irrigation system through the placement of 35 sprinklers and finally the installation of the natural grass of the Ray Grass variety, which will come in Magnum format in rolls of 1'2x12 meters, resplendent with the variety Bermudas, which will come later.
It should be noted that the latter type is much stronger and withstands better the high summer temperatures.
SUPPORT OF THE REGIONAL FEDERATION AND THE ADMINISTRATIONS
The total cost of this intervention will be 150,000 euros plus VAT, which will be covered by funds raised in the clash between the U21 and Slovakia on 14 November in the albinegro fief, donated by the Football Federation of the Region of Murcia, and the support of municipal and regional governments.
