This morning, during the September plenary session, the municipal group MC has presented an initiative for the Cartagena City Council to put in place all the necessary procedures to request the Ministry of Defense to make available to the municipality of Cartagena both the property as the plot of the Naval Hospital, in order to be able to give some use to the benefit of society.
In spite of this, the municipal groups of PSOE, PP and CTSSP (We) have voted against the interests of the citizenship of the Region of Cartagena, thus avoiding that the mentioned building and its parcel is destined to a service of social character .
It should be recalled that during August, a digital media in the city reported that the Ministry of Defense was studying to use the facilities of the former Naval Hospital, located in Tentegorra, as a large reception center for immigrants.
This information alluded to the construction of the largest reception center in Europe at the Naval Hospital.
In this context, once it has been proven that the facilities of the Naval Hospital are in a position to be used, since MC has proposed today that the City of Cartagena do all the necessary procedures for the Ministry of Defense to transfer both the building and the plot , to some use that benefits society.
One of the projects likely to host the Naval Hospital could be the City of Justice itself.
Therefore, it has been proposed that, in this case, the Ministries of Defense and Justice speak to try to reach an agreement of assignment and, in this way, can be installed in that location the much needed and desired City of Justice of Cartagena, in order to relieve the courts of the city, currently saturated and unable to grow.
It is incomprehensible that, knowing this reality, PSOE, PP and CTSSP have opposed this initiative, making deaf to the unanimous request of the groups included in the 'Mesa de la Justicia', a forum of participation promoted by the City of Cartagena for coordinate the actions that are necessary in matters of justice, on the need to build the City of Justice in Cartagena.
