The whale tail dock in the Port of Cartagena hosts the second edition of the Ciudad de Cartagena Water Polo Tournament this Saturday, September 23, which will feature the participation of more than 200 players from 17 teams from different points in the region. Region.
This was presented by Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, at a press conference on Thursday that was accompanied by the president of the Waterpolo Carthago Club, Juan Nieto Solano and technical director of the club, Angel Nieto Fernandez.
The sporting event is included in the calendar of Carthaginians and Romans, organized by the Waterpolo Club Carthago Miralmonte and counts on the collaboration of the Councils of Sports and Tourism.
The tournament will begin at 9 am and will run throughout the day until 7 pm.
Ricardo Segado has assured that the council that he directs "already has planned all the necessary infrastructure for the correct development of the test", while he thanked the members of the Club Waterpolo Carthago Miralmonte his involvement in the promotion of this sport, of those he said are "a team that has been turned over so that the organization is a success that will consolidate this test in time."
The mayor stressed that the main objective of this tournament is to promote "a minority sport that shows a clear upward trend in our city," as well as promoting alternative leisure activities to young people during the holidays.
Thus, both the visitors and Cartagena who move to the whale tail dock and teams, who play in different categories, "surely will enjoy an intense day of water polo in an ideal location," said Segado.
For his part, the President of the Club has highlighted the participation of teams from different points in the Region of Murcia, such as Molina de Segura, San Javier, Murcia and, of course, Cartagena with Cartagho Miralmonte, as well as other points of the geography as the Petrer team, from the Valencian Community.
Specifically, in the tournament will face three teams of the juvenile category, four in the child, four in the female category and six in the men's.
Finally, the technical director has emphasized the importance of this event to publicize the water polo and, in addition, serve as promotion to the city outside the municipality and the Autonomous Community.
"We want you to know our passion, the water polo, but also our city and come to enjoy how wonderful it is," he said.
