Cartagena prepares to live the central days of the festival of 'Carthaginians and Romans'.
The City Council, from the area of ​​Sustainable Development, contributes to the promotion of participation, accessibility and sustainability through a series of measures that are part of the European Mobility Week, which under the motto 'Sharing gets further afield', began last Saturday and will run until Friday 22 September.
Thus, during Thursday 21, non-school in the educational centers of Cartagena, and Friday 22, local holiday, all regular bus lines will be free.
In this way, throughout the two days will promote the use of public transport for the whole family, both when accessing the job, as in the search for alternative leisure, with access to the festive venue.
On Friday, this measure will coincide with the European Day Without Cars.
In addition, one of the well-known lines 'M17', Severo Ochoa (near the Mandarache Shopping Center), will continue in operation until Saturday 23, in the afternoon, from 18:30 to 01:00 hours, in order to alleviate the transit of vehicles in the vicinity of the camp.
On the other hand, from tomorrow will be available the first point of electric recharge of the municipality.
The same will be located in the Gates of San José.
The initiatives planned during the next 48 hours will be completed with the Roman Punic cycle route to be developed on Friday.
The exit will take place from the Municipal Archaeological Museum Enrique Escudero de Castro.
OTHER MEASURES
It should be recalled that the coordinator of the area of ​​Sustainable Development, Jesus Giménez, announced these and other measures last September 15, when it was announced the set of actions that will include the Mobility Month, which will conclude on 19 October in Cartagena.
The proposal demonstrates the commitment of the local government to bet on mobility, as a strategic axis in the definition of the Cartagena of the future.
Thus, it is worth mentioning other initiatives such as the one implemented during December 2016, with the implementation of the bus lines and the 'M17' deterrent car park, in search of the municipality's structure.
Experience that was repeated, with greater success, during Holy Week.
At the time, the strategic plan 'M17' was announced, twenty measures for the improvement in mobility to be implemented in 2017.
MONTH OF MOBILITY
The Month of Mobility contains another battery of interesting actions aimed at the objective described.
Among others, bicycles are recovered from the Bicity service for the use of municipal staff, or 'Zone 30' is tested, from Queen Victoria, which makes the tracks cicle.
Also, on Sunday 8 October, in collaboration with the Spanish Association against Cancer, will be held on Bicycle Day.
Finally, the activities of the Mobility Month will conclude on October 19 with a lecture at the UPCT on 'city and sustainable mobility', which will be attended by experts and where the municipal and university vision will be offered on this issue.
