The area of ​​Culture and Heritage has organized the second intervention in Monte Sacro, framed within the first edition of the University Campus of Practices and Archaeological Training 'City of Cartagena', which took place last July.
This new initiative, which comes to give continuity to what has already been done, will take place between 18 and 30 September.
The mayor of Archaeological Heritage, Ricardo Segado, has assured that "due to the interest of the archaeological levels in which we are after this intervention, it has been decided to undertake a new campaign of excavations in the Holy Mount".
As happened with the first intervention, the Municipal Society Casco Antiguo and the universities of Murcia and UNED collaborate with the area of ​​Culture and Heritage in its development and organization.
The archaeological excavation in July focused on the upper terrace of Mount Sacro, one of the hills that made up the ancient peninsula of Carthago Nova, and in whose subsoil archaeological structures had been detected by recent studies of the georadar.
REGISTRATION AND SCHEDULES
Those interested in participating in the Campus can find the modality of registration with accommodation at a price of 250 euros, while a second option, which does not include accommodation but lunch and food, is priced at 100 euros.
In both cases, once completed, an official certificate of the 120 hours of internships will be delivered during this activity.
The work schedule will be from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the sites, while in the afternoons the inventory of materials from the excavation will be made at the Archaeological Museum.
Because of their specialized nature, the practices were initially aimed at university students who completed the degrees of Geography and History, Archeology and Ancient History, postgraduate or master's degree, as well as graduates in these subjects, but before the applications received has been extended to students and pre-university students from other careers.
