The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment extends until next October 15 the exhibition of the cartagenera artist María José Contador 'In his own name', which can be seen in the attic of the Regional Museum of Modern Art of Cartagena (Muram).

Likewise, "with the objective of increasing the activities organized in the museum as a complement to the exhibitions and opening it to a wider audience", explained the Director General of Cultural Heritage, Juan Antonio Lorca, "since Culture, new visits have been organized and workshops related to this project for both the family audience and adults who are fond of painting. "

The sample 'In own name' consists of 23 creations whose common theme is still life.

These are paintings for which the creator has used techniques ranging from oil and acrylic to quenching the egg and with which she wants to transport the viewer to a universe of beauty and melancholy, not only evoking everyday places, but also reflecting the spectator on the passage of time, the lack of communication and the human being himself.

The first of the guided tours organized for this last month of exhibition will be held today, at 17:30, next to the artist herself, and another program is scheduled for next Saturday, October 7, starting at 12:00 hours.

Contador will also teach on September 23 (from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) the adult workshop 'El bodegón contemporáneo'.

With origins in antiquity and very popular in Western art since the seventeenth century, the still life gives the artist more compositional freedom than other pictorial genres such as landscape or portraiture.

Participants will approach this genre using the technique of egg hardening, very versatile on small surfaces, which will allow them to work with details, glazes and flat tones.

The exhibition that can be seen in the Muram, added Lorca, "shows the public the work done by the Carthaginian artist María José Contador during the last fifteen years, discovering the evolution of his look and technique."

In this way, he added, "we continue to promote culture in the Region of Murcia, helping to give greater visibility to the work of our creators."

'In its own name' is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

on Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sundays and public holidays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
