The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has appeared this morning before the media to ensure that he maintains "a rajatabla" the road map marked by the municipal government throughout these more than two years regarding the control of Hidrogea and the lowering of water rates in Cartagena.
For this he recalled how last June the Governing Board agreed to reject the proposed rates submitted by Hidrogea and initiate ex officio a review of tariffs by the City, in accordance with the technical criteria.
The councilor explained that last September 6 held a meeting with the technicians and municipal officials where the following steps were drawn in the roadmap in which the new municipal government has been working since the beginning of the legislature.
According to her, the mayor presented at the Board of Governors last September 8 the rejection of the two appeals filed by the company to the agreements last June,
a rejection that will be notified to Hidrogea.
Castejón also commented that once the technical study of the cost structure of the service is completed, it will convene the Water Monitoring Commission.
He also said that the technical team that works in that study will remain the same.
Finally, regarding the extension of the contract, the mayor has stated that she is very aware of the political commitments signed with CTSSP and with Citizens, and that for this as mayor and also from its municipal group, has requested a report on the economic cost which would lead to the annulment of that extension.
