The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) and the multinational Técnicas Reunidas have presented today the agreement that formators of both entities will jointly impart the Diploma of professional specialist in commissioning and start-up in chemical plants.
"The commissioner is the test phase of the facilities after the construction of a chemical plant and before the raw materials are introduced," explains the academic director of the course, Carlos Godínez.
"It is already common practice in our projects around the world that the commissioner is part of our reach, because we deliver the plants up and running," says Juan Antonio de León, director of the Cartagena office of Técnicas Reunidas.
"The specialist in commissioning and commissioning is a profile that we need," he added.
Example of dual university
The rector of the Polytechnic, Alejandro Diaz, highlighted the agreement as an example of "dual university, with a teaching almost 50% between university professors and professionals who know the details and casuistry on the job."
For the head of Human Resources of the company, Jesus Becares, has considered an agreement as "a great opportunity to transmit the knowledge of University and Company to professionals who will be the future and the quarry of our company and other companies at the level world".
Técnicas Reunidas has a Commissioner's department in its Cartagena office, where 155 professionals are employed, about half of them, alumni of the UPCT.
The global firm, with more than 5,000 workers, has built a thousand processing plants and is the tenth engineering contractor in the world.
"Training in this specialty was not acquired until now in any educational center, only through professional practice, although it is increasingly useful and required by companies in our environment, such as Repsol or Sabic," adds Leon.
The Polytechnic of Cartagena will be the first university in Spain to teach this training, in the modality of its own title.
The course, aimed at graduates in industrial engineering and professionals of the chemical industry, will begin to be taught in the second quarter of this course, in the afternoon and will consist of 300 teaching hours, with a cost of 1,500 euros and will include work practices.
At today's event, chaired by rector Alejandro Díaz, the directors of Human Resources and Training of the multinational company Técnicas Reunidas, Jesus Bécares and Isaac Orduna, respectively, as well as the director of the Legal Affairs Department of Corporate Affairs, Carmen Rosa Herrera .
