The official magazine of Carthaginians and Romans begins a new journey.
The terrace of the Corte Inglés cafeteria was the setting for the presentation of the first issue of the "Historical Magazine" of the fiestas.
A change of format that seeks to "publicize, in an amusing way but with maximum historical accuracy, the events that serve as a 'script' in the ten days of the holidays," according to the prologue of the publication.
The event was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, who expressed the importance of the official magazine, which "is not a publication, it is the means by which the parties are known, and spread our history and our heritage throughout the entire national territory. "
He also praised the cultural commitment of the Federation, which is shown with performances such as the election of a local artist with international projection such as Angel Mateo Charris for the poster design and cover of the magazine this year, or with the edition of this magazine.
The President of the Federation, Jose Antonio Meca, made public the appointment of El Corte Inglés, represented by its director, Alfredo Carvajal, as Festero Honoris Causa of the XXVIII edition of the fiestas.
The first issue of the magazine is devoted mainly to the acts of the first three days of the holidays.
Readers will be able to learn about the historical facts on which the Burning of the Sacred Fire, the Foundation of Qart-Hadast, the Dies Lustricus, the Destruction of Sagunto, the Centurion Commissions and the Plenary Session of the Roman Senate are based.
The number of 2018 is expected to cover the Marriages of Hannibal and Himilce, the Oracle of Tanit, the Landing of the Carthaginian Armada and the March of Hannibal to Rome;
the Battle of Qart-Hadast and the events around it will appear in the 2019 edition.
The direction and edition of the magazine has been in charge of the president of the parties and Alejandro Aguirre.
Diego Ortiz has been in charge of the contents.
The magazine closes with a vignette of Rogelio and Joaquin.
The presentation was attended by other members of the Municipal Corporation, such as the Councilor for Participation, Decentralization and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, the Councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, the Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, and Councilors Manuel Padín and Carolina Palazón.
