The Association of Housewives of El Algar celebrated yesterday its XXXIV Gastronomic Contest within the program of the celebrations of the locality that are developed until the next 16 of September.
An event that brought together more than a hundred residents in the Mesón Restaurant Marín of the Industrial Park of Los Camachos, who shared with the participants an afternoon dedicated to gastronomy that was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and of the Councilor for Tourism and Rural Development, Obdulia Gómez.
The queen and the ladies of the parties were in charge of presenting the dishes to the 3 jury tables that were arranged to taste the first plates, second plates and desserts that were presented to contest.
In total 9 aspirants to the best first course, 10 to the best second and 6 to the best dessert.
The first prize of the main dish was for Montse Carreño for his Tarta Salada, the second dish was for Ascensión Hernández for his sirloin to the port, while the prize for the best dessert was received by Toñi Ais who made a strawberry mousse with violet glaze.
The prize for the best presentation was for Lola Albaladejo for her pork hands perfumed to the marinera, who received the special gift for the 50th anniversary of the Association of Neighbors, consisting of a voucher for a spa session, massage and food in the Hotel Talassa.
Among the other winners were distributed a kitchen plate, a ham or a cutlery, as well as various prizes donated by local merchants.
