The City Council of Cartagena, through the Department of Education, in collaboration with the Department of Social Services and Social Mediation, has activated the campaign 'Every day, without fail' to prevent school absenteeism in the municipality.
The Councilor delegate of Social Services and Social Mediation, Carmen Martín del Amor, and the delegate councilor of Education, David Martínez, presented on Wednesday the different actions contemplated in this initiative, among them the I March 'Vuelta al cole' and a promotional video for the school public and institutes.
In this I March 'Vuelta al cole' will participate the students of Primary and Secondary Education of three centers in the area of ​​Santa Lucía, Lo Campano and Los Mateos, specifically the schools Nuestra Señora del Mar, Asdrúbal and Hannibal.
It will be next Monday, September 11 and the itinerary will begin at 9:30 am from each school, touring the neighborhood with the musical and theatrical animation of Killo and La Murga, until arriving at the institute Santa Lucía, where you will end up dancing a flashmob with a choreography of the Zumba Group of Lo Campano.
Likewise, a promotional video of the campaign has been published in which people representing the city appear, and with which it is intended to reach the children and young people of the municipality through social networks.
In this spot, adults from all walks of life are urging students to attend "every day, without fail" to their classes so that they can someday fulfill their dreams.
Nurses, teachers, police, firemen, sportsmen, etc.
have made a hole in their agendas to dedicate a few words to the students to encourage them to commit to their training.
On the other hand, pencil holders have been produced that include the school calendar.
"Prevention is one of the priority objectives of the Department," said the mayor of Social Services, who added that it "acquires greater relevance" when it speaks of "necessary actions to protect and care for children in their evolutionary development and access to education. "
Carmen Martin stressed that "the involvement of families, the support of social agents and other groups must be the motor that watches over and detects the causes that can cause school truancy."
In this aspect he has advocated for the collaboration of the whole world.
"Together we have the obligation to find solutions and strategies that encourage children to go to school," he specified.
He has also invited everyone to participate in the 'Vuelta al cole' March.
For his part, the mayor of Education has announced that school absenteeism is a problem that has been decreasing in recent years thanks to the workers of the councils of Education and Social Services and Social Mediation.
"We want to continue working on it and the sample is this prevention campaign," he said.
In this regard, Martinez has stressed that the goal of the City of Cartagena is to reduce the percentage of absenteeism in the municipality, which in the last year stood at 1'16%, although in the last three periods has been decreasing of 1.90%, 1.61%, and 1.23% to the current figure.
Since 2007/2008, in these 10 years, it has been falling from 3.28% in that it was thanks to the work of the municipal technicians during the different legislatures, with the different municipal governments.
As explained by the councilman the highest absenteeism rate occurs in the last cycle of Primary and in ESO.
Martinez also recalled that the computer program developed by the Consistory was awarded at the national level and has also served to inspire the one that launched the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Autonomous Community.
"In the Region we were an example," he said.
On the other hand, he has announced that the municipal government team continues to work on this matter in coordination with the same counseling and has announced that throughout the year the Absence Group of the Department of Education will continue to work in coordination with Social Services in each center with the aim of not having absenteeism in the Cartagena schools.
The Councilor for Education also referred to the march of September 11, and has indicated that the idea is not only to prevent, but also "that all Cartagena children will want, with enthusiasm, with joy" to the school or institute and so "every day".
