Dedicated this year to Malaga 'the cantaora' as a land of maximum abundance of artists, the V Flamenco Cycle Cartagena Jonda will inaugurate next September 16 its programming that will extend until June 8 with conferences, concerts, exhibitions and cinema.
In order to present the cycle to the media, this morning the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez, the president of the Peña Flamenca Antonio Piñana, Miguel Celdrán, and the members of the Peña, Fulgencio García and Rafael Ros attended this morning.
The cycle will begin with a lecture by the flamencologist Ramón Soler on the cantaora 'La Repompa de Málaga', in an evening that will be followed by the performance of his niece 'La Repompilla'.
This concert will continue the performances of the cantaor 'Cancanilla de Málaga', on October 21;
the bailaora 'La Lupi', on November 25;
Carmen Gonzalez will go on stage on January 20;
'La Boterita' will perform after a conference of José Luis Ortiz Nuevo, to be held on February 17;
the singing recital of Bonela Filho will be on March 10;
cantaora Antonia Contreras will act on April 21 and will put the icing on this cycle the performance of Antonio Piñana's grandson, Curro Piñana, accompanied by Antonio Piñana's guitar.
Mare Nostrum Restaurant will be, as usual, the venue for the different singing and dancing performances that will cost € 12 or € 15 and will be free for members.
In this regard, the president of the organizing group has encouraged all lovers of flamenco in Cartagena to become partners, to enjoy both these concerts and other activities that are organized.
In addition, the program has been complemented by a cycle of film and flamenco that has been coordinated with the International Film Festival of Cartagena, during which four screenings will be seen: the documentary 'El cante bueno duele', a production of public television holadesa;
'Rite and Geography of the Cante', an RTVE program considered the best about flamenco ever produced from which 2 chapters will be screened;
'Flamenco, Flamenco', a film by Carlos Saura that mixes dance, painting and singing;
and 'The guitar flies.
Dreaming Paco de Lucía ', a documentary tribute to the guitarist, which will feature the presence of its author, Jorge Martínez, and the last guitar by Paco de Lucía to be played by Antonio Piñana.
Within the cycle of conferences will also be held the concert talk by José Luís García and Antonio Piñana, in which they will present the pieces 'Alegrías de Cádiz' and 'Dans la douce pénombre', recorded at the Agrupa Vicenta mine;
and the presentation of the book Génesis García 'José Menese.

In addition, from October 27 to December 20, the photographic exhibition 'Ratitos buenos' by photographer Martín Vellón, which collects snapshots of peñas and tablaos from Madrid, Seville, Jerez and Cartagena, can be visited at the Archaeological Museum of Cartagena.
