The City Council of Cartagena, through the Department of Social Services, has joined the XI 'Battle for Life' with an institutional video in which the fans of the troops and legions of Carthaginians and Romans and the citizens to participate in this campaign of donation of blood and marrow organized by the Federation of Troops and Legions in collaboration with the Area of ​​Quality of Life, Health, Consumption and Environment of the City of Cartagena, Hemodonación Center, Murciano Health Service and Telecartagena.

This Friday, this campaign, which will take place at the Santa María del Rosell Hospital on Saturday 9 September from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the head of the Haemodonation Center, Toñi Gómez, is responsible for the Vocalía of the Solidarity Area of ​​the Federation of Troops and Legions, Manuel González, the Councilor for the Quality of Life Area, Francisco Calderón, the Councilor for Social Services, Carmen Martín del Amor, the director of Telecartagena, Loles Rodríguez, and the characters Scipio, Emilia Paula, Hannibal and Himilce.

"We hope people are involved," said the head of the Hemodonation Center, who pointed out that not only will blood or marrow be collected, but will be there to provide information to those who need it on both types of donation and that the schedule could be extended if the participation is very high.

"The influx expected is a lot," Toñi Gómez has reported.

Gómez, who has qualified that it is necessary to go to breakfast, since it is not possible to donate blood in fasting, has taken advantage to encourage to the young festeros.

"We need to reach young people. We need a generational change," as he explained the profile of the donor is mostly middle-aged and there are already many older donors who by age are giving up.

Councilor for the Health and Quality of Life Area, Francisco Calderón, has welcomed the fact that this campaign is done in the Rosell, since, he pointed out, that "means that the Rosell is being strengthened" and invited where blood and marrow "because it is very important."

Also the Councilor of Social Services, Carmen Martín, who stars in the institutional video with which the City Council wants to boost participation in this XI 'Battle for Life', wanted during their appearance to encourage people to join the donations.

"From the City Council of Cartagena, and through the Department of Social Services, we support this campaign and from here I invite both the festors and the citizens of Cartagena to become blood donors and to acquire the commitment of marrow donation "he commented.

The head of the Solidarity Area of ​​the Federation of Troops and Legions has confirmed that there will be an atmosphere with the characters and with the collaboration of the Troops and Legions and also that there will be a bus that will take the route from the camp to the Rosell.

He has also encouraged the fans to make videos and share them on social networks to encourage people to join the campaign and participate.

Scipio and Hannibal have joined this appeal and have cheered the party and troop leaders of the Troops and Legions to come to this call so that the average age of the donors can be lowered and, on the other hand, to eliminate the fears of time to donate.

Also the label #BatallaPorLaVidaCT has been launched to move the campaign through social networks and demonstrate the solidarity of the Cartagena.

A VITAL NEED

According to the person responsible for the Hemodontic Center, between 250 and 300 blood donations per day are required to cope with all hospital needs, since there are many oncological and hematological patients who require transfusions every day.

SUCCESS OF THE SUMMER CAMPAIGN AND REQUIREMENTS

During the months of July and August a total of 14,529 donors have been taken care of in this summer campaign that will close with this XI 'Battle for Life', of which 1,800 were new donors.

Donating blood is very simple;

you simply have to be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kilograms and be in good health.

In the case of marrow donation you must be between 18 and 55 years old and have no chronic or autoimmune disease;

in this case the donation is not immediate, only an analysis is done and the donor is called when there is a compatible claimant.

From the organization it is considered that the fact that the campaign takes place outside the dates in which the parties are understood, will be positive in order to achieve a greater participation.
