This Wednesday, August 31, has closed the current edition of the Summer Schools of the City of Cartagena, in a day in which the edil of Education, David Martinez, described as "successful" this initiative, not only by the Number of children enrolled but also by the social work developed and the good functioning and work by the concessionary company.
Thus, Martínez explained, the number of registrations last year has been exceeded for children of the municipality who participated in the Summer School during the months of July and August, since they covered the 1,050 places that were offered.
On the other hand, it has expressed its satisfaction for the good work of the companies in charge of the management of the activities, with which "there has been no problem".
As for the company responsible for the dining rooms, said that "the students have eaten very well in both July and August."
He explained that the objective of providing an alternative family reconciliation for parents who work during the summer and who can not care for their children has been fulfilled so that the children can continue to learn and play in the summer.
The 1,050 places offered through these summer schools have been distributed in 11 centers of the municipality, grouped into two groups.
The first one has joined the schools Antonio Ulloa, Azorín (Molinos Marfagones), Concepción Arenal, Mediterranean (La Manga), San Gines de la Jara, San Isidoro (El Algar), Vicente Medina (Los Dolores) and Luis Vives ) And has 850 places for students from 3 to 12 years from Monday to Friday, with a kangaroo classroom and 320 dining places that have been distributed among eight of the centers for families with few resources.
The second package of this activity, which has been developed in collaboration with the Rascasa Association, has taken place in the schools Asdrúbal de Lo Campano, Aníbal de Los Mateos, and Stella Maris de la Barriada Virgen de la Caridad, also in the morning From Monday to Friday and with 100 places of activities and 100 of free dining for children between 5 and 12 years, between the three schools, for each month.
"We are improving every year", said the mayor of Education, who has shown his intention, for the coming year, "to continue with this improvement and reach more and more Cartagena."
