The Rector, on behalf of the university community of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, regrets the death of Juan Carrión, honorary professor of the UPCT, and expresses the sadness of the institution before the loss of such an outstanding teacher.
The illustrious English teacher Juan Carrión, nationally known for inspiring the Goya's award-winning six-film 'Live is easy with his eyes closed', has died today at the age of 93.
Carrión was professor for more than two decades in the School of Business of Cartagena, precursor of the current Faculty of Enterprise Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
Adoptive son of Cartagena, his relationship with the UPCT remained to the point that he decided to donate to the Polytechnic, in gratitude to the UPCT and for his affection for the institution, one of the Goya that the director David Trueba gave him.
Juan Carrión was named honorary professor of the UPCT and was honored in the academic act of celebration of St. Thomas Aquinas of 2015.
In addition, the Multimedia Classroom of Languages ​​of the Faculty of Sciences of the Company bears its name.
