The MC Municipal Group will request, at the next Ordinary Plenary Session of the City of Cartagena, to be held on Thursday, September 7, that CARM be urged to improve the urban bus service in La Manga, optimizing the line on the frequency of Step on the route that links Cartagena with La Manga throughout the year and on summer weekends.

To this end, it will be necessary to include in the regional budgets a heading that guarantees the service in the proposed terms.

The Cartagenerista formation, through the Councilor of Portal and Transparency Office, María José Soler, recalled that, almost completed the summer campaign, "we collect the complaints of users of the urban bus that runs through La Manga, whose main claims are Refer to the frequency of passage, established by the Autonomous Community, of thirty minutes, which is insufficient service, in addition to the accumulation of significant delays in peak hours.

In this sense, Soler said that "in a time when we all talk about sustainability and promoting public transport, in the main tourist destination of CARM, one day you can expect the urban bus for almost an hour."

This is due, the mayor pointed out, "to traffic problems, but also to the scarce frequency of the service".

Similarly, María José Soler recalled that the regional government also has to solve the traffic problems in La Manga with three million euros of ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) funds in the 2017 budget, "money that has not Invested when we are already facing the end of the third quarter of the year. "

Seasonalization of tourism

On the other hand, the councilor of the municipal group MC has ensured that "there is another term that likes to use our regional leaders, the 'deseasonalization' of tourism, but also do not implement simple measures for this.

In this regard, Soler has qualified that "here we refer to the line Cartagena-La Manga, which once the summer ends, and surprisingly the weekends of this, loses direct service, which offers such a good result and whose demand is evident".

For all these reasons, since the Cartagenerista training the complaints of the users have been collected and it has been proposed to the CARM the establishment of a schedule frequency for urban transport in La Manga of fifteen minutes and not of thirty during the summer months, With the intention of optimizing the service and making more pleasant the stay of the residents and visitors.

Lastly, María José Soler emphasized that "we wish and request that the Autonomous Community bet definitively by public transport in the Comarca del Campo de Cartagena, reflecting it in the next budgets, thus meeting the true needs of La Manga, also improving the aforementioned Cartagena-La Manga line with the maintenance of the direct service throughout the year and, especially, the weekends of the summer ".
