As part of the activities organized in honor of the patron saint of Cartagena, San Ginés de la Jara, on Saturday, August 26, took place the usual pilgrimage of the Saint, which this year had as destination El Llano del Beal.
Very early, at eight o'clock in the morning, the pilgrims will begin to concentrate in front of the Basilica of Charity, where at 8:30 hours the floral offering to the patroness and the Eucharist will be celebrated by the chaplain of the brotherhood Lázaro Gomáriz , With the assistance of, among others, the first deputy mayor, José López, the councilors, María José Soler, Isabel García and Francisco Calderón, the elder brother of the San Ginés de la Jara Brotherhood, Victor Javier Navarro, and the Brotherhood of Romeros , Andrés García.
After the blessing, on foot, in wagon and on horseback, the pilgrimage left for its first stop, the parish of San Ginés, where it was received by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and the second lieutenant of mayor and councilman of festejos, Juan Pedro Torralba.
A brief offering before the image of the saint inside the parish, preceded the one distributed chocolate and buns to replenish forces.
The procession then continued to the chapel to the Virgin of the Charity in the Aparecida, where the Association of Neighbors offered the rosemary wine and sausages typical of the land.
From there it would leave for the hermitage of Roche where the food took place, with a giant paella that will be distributed among the participants.
When the table was finished, the pilgrimage to Los Camachos, where there was a floral offering to the Immaculate Conception, was distributed among the pilgrims in order to combat the heat.
The penultimate stop was El Strait of San Ginés, in the church of San Nicolás de Bari, from where the carts went to Llano del Beal to finish at night with the locals in their popular fiestas in a Great Verbena.
