The first deputy mayor of Cartagena, José López, and the Councilor for Finance, Isabel Garcia, received this Wednesday, August 23, the president of the Federation of Scouts of the Region of Murcia, Daniel Lopez, and the vice president, Eduardo Noguera, who have sent the councilors their proposal to destine one or several batteries of the Cartagena coast as the headquarters of the organization and carry out excursions and activities.
The meeting was held in the Administrative Building of San Miguel, after informing the councilor of the Treasury to the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, of the contents of it.
The first deputy mayor has heard the request of the scouts and has transferred to the representatives of the federation their commitment to look for options for that proposal.
And is that, he recalled that the architect José Manuel Chacón proposed the implementation of a hotel and a leisure area in the battery of Fajardo that could already have investors.
"You have to put in the balance the different offers and projects there are," he stressed.
López has pointed out that, in recent years, the City Council of Cartagena has advanced in the acquisition of heritage "with the aim of protecting it", a line that is followed by the various coastal batteries that are located in the area.
Thus, a few months ago the Ministry of Finance attributed to Cartagena the Castle of La Atalaya, which already has a share of the participatory budgets to begin the work to rectify various problems and, on the other hand, Fajardo and La Podadera, On the western front, could also happen soon to the municipal government or, at least, would be managed through a civil-military consortium, as in other autonomous communities.
In addition, the mayor of Sustainable Development has announced that this same Wednesday will move to the battery of San Leandro with municipal technicians to know his state.
"We have a real interest in that the University of the Sea, in which the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic of Cartagena are interwoven, has its permanent headquarters in Cartagena, on the coast."
In this sense, he recalled the importance of the good climate that Cartagena enjoys to enable and open that university not only in summer, but the 12 months of the year.
In turn, has valued the work being done from the City of Cartagena with the competent Ministry and has advanced that is already waiting for the grant assigned to begin the works around the Roman Amphitheater.
Asked by the media, he spoke about the needs of the neighborhood of San Antón.
In this way, he has assured that "a comprehensive plan is necessary in which to solve aspects as much urbanistic as of infrastructures and social".
